It’s been a minute! We have had a busy few weeks. My husband is just starting the last bit of paternity leave he has from our fourth child and we are busy preparing for vacation and homeschool. To top it all off we have appointments every day this week ranging from the dentist to the vet and our youngest just came down with hand, foot and mouth. Overwhelmed is an understatement. But the show must go on or so they say.
After years of planning, in December(?) of last year, we were finally able to start construction on our new home! It has been an adventure that neither myself nor my husband ever really imagined we would be having, yet here we are. Full of ups and downs, stupid questions and weird requests, we have tried to take every step gratefully (and gracefully!) and we can finally see it all start coming together.
We have hit a major milestone – we have (most of) a deck and (most of) our siding in place as of this week! Although less exciting but equally as important, we also have power and the septic has been installed. It is finally starting to look like a house we can actually live in and not just look at. It’s been very exciting for the kids to finally see what our new house will truly look like on the outside.
Setbacks? We did have to rearrange our kitchen beam design a bit and we learned that our move in date has been pushed back from November to February. (One more Christmas in our townhouse! 🙁 ) But we’re still chugging along and things are coming together really beautifully. I love to drive over to our property and just quietly walk through the house, watch the way the sunlight shifts around and imagine what day to day will soon be like. But for now, I’ll just have to settle for looking at laundry baskets piled up in our too full living room, running around collecting things for our upcoming beach trip and gently reminding myself that an end is in sight.
